This morning I got up bright and early with Daisy to take my mom to the airport. Sigh. I don't make a big deal out of goodbyes simply because I don't want to cry my eye balls out as I am hugging the person I am leaving and thus making it harder for them to go. You better believe that as soon as I have said my dry eyed goodbye and as I watch the person I love racing with their suitcase to catch a flight all the way across the country, thousands of miles away from me, my throat closes up, and the tears fall. Possibly one of the few times a year that I actually do cry. Not a day went by that my mom was here that I didn't question whether or not it would be possible for me to move back to California to live nearer to our immediate families. I realize now that we love North Carolina so much and it is definitely "home." We have so many amazing friends here, a great church, a beautiful home, lakes to fish at, the feeling of nature all around and yet amenities so close by etc., that leaving here would be just as hard as being away from our families in CA in a lot of ways. At the end of the day there is just nothing quite like family though.
My time with my mom was wonderful. We kept our days simple...(my favorite) and stress free. Pool trips, long walks, watched decorating shows together, played outside with Daisy for hours, baked, went out to eat, laughed and soaked up each others company. It flew by just as I knew it would. Daisy was just starting to learn how to say Lulu...sounded more like booboo but, she totally knew who Lulu was. Whenever I dressed Daisy I would say, "awww, you look so pretty. Go show your Lulu," and Daisy would trot out to my mom and act all bashful and silly as my mom ooood and aaahhd over her. My mom doted on Daisy endlessly and Daisy ate it up! I miss my momma like crazy. This was the only other picture I got with the three of us during her two week stay. We were eating in our adorable downtown and browsing in the shops. Daisy did great so long as we never sat still or stayed in one place for more than a few seconds. My kiddo does not like to be in one place..she likes to go go go...just like her Daddy:).
I miss you Momma. Miss you too much and can't thank you enough for being the best mom and friend a girl could ask for! xoxo
Next week's prompt is: water (could be bath time, pool, washing dishes, etc.)
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and looking forward to seeing your pictures with your kiddos for the week!
Awwww family is so awesome - nothing like it. I know you'll miss your mom though. This is a great shot!
ReplyDeleteAaaawwww this almost made me cry!!! My mom is 3000 miles away and I get to see her once or twice a year. And every time she leaves, we both cry!
ReplyDeleteAwww...so sweet! Hope yall had a great time!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo!! Sounds like you had a wonderful visit with your mom. I hate goodbyes too...time always goes by to quickly when having fun.
ReplyDeletelove this post, and my heart aches for you. So glad she could visit and hopefully fill you up for a while. miss you dear!
ReplyDeleteLove Love the photo, I cannot imagine having to say goodbye to my mom! You are so strong.
ReplyDeleteIt's tiring having a kid thats always go-go-go! My kid is like that too, like her dad. I'm glad you and your mom could have a relaxing, good time together:) xo
There is no one like a Momma, I'm sorry you aren't closer to her as in distance, but I know that you will savor her even more when you get to see her in person. Daisy is going to miss LuLu...so cute my mom is MiMi.
ReplyDeleteI know what that's like, missing your Momma and trying to figure out in your head what it would be like to live back home. I'm sure your Mom plots out a similar scenario about what it would be like to live in NC.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you enjoyed your time together! The farther apart you live, the more your appreciate the times you are together.
PS: What part of CA are you from?
I love that photo. So sorry you had to say goodbye to her. Glad yall had a good time though.
ReplyDeleteyou & your mom look like sisters!!
ReplyDeleteGoodbyes are so hard. My mom is just a three hour drive away and I'm always sad after she leaves.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great three generation photo though! You and your mom have great smiles!
What a great time- what brought you to NC? We also yearn to get back to CA- but it's the laws for homeschool & the way they treat all my hubs certs that keep us here. But we can visit I suppose.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you got these photos with your mom. They are really special & you can really see the close relationship you have with her.
I love the pic! I still can't believe how young your mom looks! No way is she old enough to be a grandma!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet picture of 3 generations of loveliness. I cannot imagine how you feel with your mom so far away. My mom is totally for hire whenever you need someone to come over, do your dishes, make a quick mom dinner that tastes delicious even though she only used random pantry ingredients, and tell you what a good job you are doing.
ReplyDeleteYour mom is a FOX! She is so beautiful! I am so blessed to be able to live close to my mother. I'm glad you had such an enjoyable time with her. I am the same way, when it comes to goodbyes, except when I'm saying goodbye to my husband (I completely lose it).
