Momma In Focus

I took some cute chalk pictures outside with Daisy and we used blue chalk but, I gotta say...this picture makes me so happy...out of focus and all!  As simple as it is it still wins for this week's Blue/turquoise challenge.  This is Daisy to a tee.  She is SO full of energy, SO full of personality.  She wants A LOT of attention and gets very loud if she is being ignored but, then again she is quite loud when she is the center of attention too.  The past few days have been incredibly full....of tantrums and biting..what the heck.  When I gently tell Daisy not to touch something she gets so frustrated and comes teetering towards me at full angry speed with her mouth open and tries to bite my leg or arm.  Ummmmm, where did my sweet Daisy girl of just three days past go???  It is in times like these that I realize that my little baby is growing up a little more every day and I have a big responsibility.  I need to teach her right and wrong and I need to do so in love.  I need to be strong, stay consistent and steady.  It is for her own good and will hopefully be for my good too down the line.  I do it all because I love her and want the best for her but, oh those tantrums...and the many years of tantrums we have ahead of us!

I cannot think of a better picture for what my relationship with God has sometimes been like than when I observe and ponder my child's relationship with me.  I know that she loves me very much.  I know that I am her security, her safe shelter and she trusts me.  I know that she comes to me when she is hurting and wants me to make it all better but, along with all of those sweet things, come the not the sweet...she also acts out against me the most.  She digs her heels in and gets rebellious, she resists me, she screams at me, she shakes her head no, she bites me and someday she will say hurtful things to me.  I have done and do all of those things to my loving Father in Heaven.  The love I have for my daughter is only a small glimpse of how great God's love is for me and for you and yet still I treat him so badly at times.  There is no example of parenting more beautiful than that of the King of Kings.  Endlessly patient, forgiving, merciful, gracious and loving and gently disciplining regardless of my behavior.  That is what I strive to offer my daughter...a Christ-like example because none compares to that.  I will fail, fail and fail again but, I will definitely try because she deserves that.
"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6

  6. What a great picture...blurry and all like you said. :-) And so ture...no better picture for what our relationship with God is like. Being a parent is the most important, yet most difficult job around. But with Christ as our role model and helper, it makes things a tad bit easier. :-)

  10. That picture is amazing! Daisy's expression is so pure & sweet & precious! And the happiness in you is undeniable!

And yes, you do have a big responsibility - we all do as parents. And the parents who really step up to that responsibility discipline their children and do those "tough" things, do them b/c we want our babies to grow up to be good people! It is the charge that God has given us in the verse from Proverbs. Your overwhelming love for your beautiful daughter is all you'll need to find the strength to train her in the way she should go! You're an awesome mom - you'll be an awesome teacher for her!

I know what you mean about out of focus. I had Sam take some photos of B and I yesterday playing at the park and my favorite one is completely out of focus. I guess I should let him use Auto

  22. Awesome shot Casey, really cool! Love your faces. Regarding the tantrums all I can say is do your best but realize this behaviour may go on for a while. It's helps with sanity levels if you know that tantrums MAY not disappear as quickly as they came on. Happy Weekend
