This Summer is H*O*T, HOT. We have been doing just about anything and everything we can to keep cool. Otter pops. Lake trips. Community pool play dates. Sprinklers. Milkshakes. Extra baths and lots of hose and mini pool time in the back yard. My little girl is probably happiest when I hand her the hose and stick her in a little plastic tub to play. She gets so smiley and starts chatting in her cute little baby language and oh how I wish I could understand what she is saying (soon enough I know). She melts my heart over and over again.
My little gal is a bundle of energy and life to say the least. I'll admit, sometimes I go a little stir crazy being cooped up in the house everyday with my little tornado. I try to keep us busy so that there is less whining and less boredom but, we can only do so much in this heat. Not a day goes by that someone doesn't remind me to cherish every little second with my daughter because she will be grown before I know it and I couldn't agree more. The last 16 months flew by (like really flew!) and I know the same will be true of the next 16+ years. Isn't it unfortunate that even in knowing how fleeting the moments are with our little ones that we can still find ourselves sometimes rushing through a day, or getting stressed over little nothings that are insignificant in the overall scheme of things. I mean how could I not want to sit and play ALL day long with that cute little face below?? hehe
I feel like the Lord is constantly urging me to cherish, savor and soak up every little moment in life, so I try to do just that! I'm so thankful for His constant reminders as they keep me in check and remind me to slow down. Make every moment count. Savor the morning cuddles. Linger a little longer at the kitchen play set. Laugh when the food is flung on the floor. Did I mention that my little gal coughed a mouth full of Pintos and Cheese into my face and hair last night at Taco Bell. Oh my goodness it was hilarious. I literally started busting up laughing and disrupted the entire room. Those are the moments I don't ever want to miss! Life is messy, surprising and wonderful! Are you soaking it all up too?
I love that you had a huge guffaw with the pintos and cheese. Too many momma's would've been embarrassed. That's awesome.
ReplyDeletePicture #2.
The squinchy face.
LOVE.
My girls are 3 and 5 months and I feel like I'm grasping after them because they are growing too fast. I just can't keep up. But am loving it all.
Thats so awesome that you just laughed it off! I gotta admit I probably wouldn't have been able to do that.... and I'm slightly jealous of your weather, we are starting to get yellow leaves and chilly autumn winds here:( These pictures are super adorable by the way!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of your little girl! What a great way to spend a hot afternoon!! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your perspective and your heart. I love how the Lord presses on our momma's hearts the importance of slowing down and taking it in -- I'm really chuckling because we probably were busy pounding the keyboards at the same time! (I wrote last night and set mine to auto-publish) The best part? Really? Is walking this journey of life with others who get your mindset. Who don't mind being different. Who don't want to "play the game" but would rather soak it all in.
ReplyDeleteAnd for that -- I thank you.
Blessings my soak it all in and learning to breathe friend. :)

You are so right about cherishing every moment. Thanks for the reminder! :-) And enjoy her not saying much 'cause let me tell you having a toddler talk non-stop all day is EXHAUSTING!

You are so right...about it all!!!! These pictures are absolutely adorable, too! Do you play in the water a little, too when she is out there so you don't melt yourself???
ReplyDeleteSounds like you all have had a great Summer. So funny about Taco Bell incident. She is so sweet. Love these shots.
ReplyDeleteIt's so true. Life does go by too fast and they grow up right before our eyes. I wish I could bottle up all this joy and happiness they bring and have it for the rest of my life. They're amazing!
ReplyDeleteAnd your pictures are so gorgeous, as always :-)
Pure happiness right there. LOL - what a great time! The pics are SO cute!
ReplyDeleteTOO ADORABLE! Yes- cherish the moments- I really can't believe how quickly they go past. It almost makes me sad to look at photos of even a year ago- It is flashing past me. My hubs says I am going to have the worst case of empty nest the world has ever known- and I think he's right.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are absolutely stunning!

You are so right!!! Great post, love the pics! I sometimes get a little teary eyed when I play with my little guy knowing I can't get that moment back. I thank God for every moment I get with my little Levi! It's so wonderful for you to post this! I know I wouldn't laugh...if I got food on me...so great reminder I need to soak in even the not-so-fun moments of life...those will be good in an instant too!
ReplyDeleteOh forgot to say...thankyou for following me....this might sound silly....but it blessed my heart!
ReplyDeleteShe looks quite refreshed in that water! PS. We have that same shirt. Love Target! :-)
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are great! I love the color of the pool. I do not think I have seen one in pink. We had some hot weeks here that we had to try and stay cool also. I hope you are doing great! Have a fun weekend!

I love that your little girl eats at Taco Bell! We just gave our 9 month old his first Happy Meal from McDonald's, and he loved it. Up next is Taco Bell!
ReplyDeleteCute photos of D in the pool. You are sooo right...we have to embrace it and enjoy it, because it'll be just a memory soon. It's hard to keep that perspective but I try.
