7 Month Stats

Daisy had her seven month check up yesterday afternoon. She also had to get three shots which I wasn't expecting. Ug. I hate shot days. She handled the first one okay, the second one not great at all and by the third she was hysterical which is such a rare state to see her in. Made my heart hurt but, we got through it without any drama. I brought some celery and some bread in a bag and as soon as she had gotten her last shot I pulled out the celery stalk and she was happy as a clam to start chomping on it. She can't really get anything but bits of and she likes the taste so it works for me!

I kid you not; Daisy had everyone in the office wrapped around her finger. She was smiling, laughing and grunting at every patient, pediatrician, assistant and office clerk in the building. The pediatrician couldn't stop laughing at how active and silly DAisy is. Have I mentioned that Daisy is a total ham and will flirt and be goofy with any stranger. She loves when people look at her and smile at her. It cracks me up!

Daisy has actually slowed in her weight gain for the first time in seven months. She is 17 pounds 3 ounces which isn't even a pound of gain in almost two months. She did however go through a crazy growth spurt in length. She is now 27 inches long! That is over 2 inches longer than at her last appointment. That could also explain some of her crabbiness...well, that and the 5 teeth she is still working on. The pediatrician opened her mouth and then seemed shocked when she saw how many teeth DAisy is working on. "wow, she is getting all of her teeth at once," was her exact reply. Then she said she must be in a ton of pain right now...that would definitely explain the crabbiness. Head circumference is 43.2 inches.

I'm not going to ramble on any more as Daisy will actually be seven months old on Sunday this week and I will do her official 7 month post with pictures and all of the latest details revolving around her amazing little life:).

Big Wheels

Oh my gosh I just love this picture of Daisy on our friends big wheel bike. She looks like such a big girl:-0

Daisy did not like swinging at all..she totally freaked out and froze in her Daddy's lap so they just sat instead and that seemed to be all that Daisy needed to be entertained:-)
We were all drenched in sweat at this park. It was mid 90's with super high humidity and the mosquitos were eating my feet alive. Icky. Daisy handled the heat like a champ. We were so proud of her!
My friend Elissa snapped these pics really quick for me and I enjoyed them all so I had to share them. Daisy is such a happy, smiley, silly baby girl. I could just eat her up...nicely of course:)

Daisy LOVES to flirt with her Daddy:)
funny face!

Daisy is now 15 pounds 7 ounces (though they said I could knock off a few ounces since she was uh, clogged so to speak) and 25" long GROWING and growing!! She is just a tad above the average mark in her weight and length now. Daisy also had to get to shots and boy do I hate that about her visits. They make me hold her leg down...ummm, thanks for making me look like the bad guy! Daisy cried big crocodile tears by the time the second shot was over so I scooped her up really quick and turned on the sink in the office and let her play with the water. That cheered her up almost instantaneously! Thank goodness she likes water so much:-). The doctor gave me the green light to start feeding Daisy twice a day now: once in the early morning after I nurse her and once in the evening after I nurse her. We have tried rice cereal for about a month now and Daisy LOVES it but, unfortunately it clogs her pipes really bad, poor baby:(. I also tried oatmeal two times since the doctor said it shouldn't cause constipation as bad as rice but, Daisy does not like the oatmeal at all. I'm going to work on it and see if I can't mix things into it so she'll like it more. Tonight we had rice cereal mixed with squash and Daisy devoured it! She gets to eat four tablespoons of food a day now so we eat two Tbs in the morning of cereal and mixed veggies and two more Tbs at night. Did any of you nursing mamas nurse less frequently once you started feeding solids twice a day? I'm sure this could be an area of opinion but, I wouldn't mind hearing some feedback.

I've been putting Daisy to bed between 8:30 and 8:45 every night now and she goes to sleep so easily (thus far), she is so exhausted by this time because she doesn't take a nap after 5:30 anymore. She has also returned the favor by waking up for good in the morning at around 7 or 7:30. This would be a dream of a routine if only she slept through the night which at this point she still does not do. I have noticed that she seems to sleep a little better now that she is eating solids but, she still wakes up a few times a night and then has to be nursed around 4:30 or 5:30 depending on the day. So that is the latest in the sleep department.

Daisy is SO tired of laying on her back and playing on her play mat. She gets so frustrated with us when we stick her under that thing now because she would much rather be held and walk around with us or go outside and stare at the trees and the people. She likes to bounce around on her legs while we hold her and she loves to hold whatever we have in our hands. I can't even eat in front of her anymore because it's clear that she understands what I am doing now and she reaches for my plate...I feel bad so I eat where she can't see me. lol. Daisy LOVES to talk, squeal and shriek. She is one talkative gal!! I think she prefers talking over improving on her motor skills at this point:). She's got her rolling down from tummy to back and she is doing great with tummy time now. She's such a big girl and I just can't process how much she has changed and grown!!! Oh time slow down please...

Daisy update

Thanks so much for the feedback guys! I really appreciate you all so very much. xoxo

The pediatrician finally called me back and authorized the use of glycerin suppositories to see if that would help. It kinda made me nervous to try the suppositories on Daisy because they are intended for kids ages 2-6 years of age...and on a 3 month old it just seemed like too much but, I didn't feel like I had another option. Joey's sister was here with me and was so supportive and helped keep me calm today. Thanks Jess!! Literally no more than one or two minutes after giving Daisy the suppository she was exploding for a good few minutes and I could tell it was upsetting her tummy because she was very serious and making a weird inhaling noise the whole time which freaked me out. Literally after pooping everything in her system out in a couple of minutes, we had one heck of a full diaper and one super duper exhausted baby girl. She conked out almost immediately in my arms. I know that babies that are nursed can go a few days without pooping but, as mamas we also know our babies potty routines and we know when they are in pain so that is the only reason I know this is constipation. She was screaming in pain but, still trying to smile at us...oh my gosh, this mommy thing is taking my heart on a whole new roller coaster and I know it never ends:). I called my mommy to get some advice today and I think I took her heart on a roller coaster too. lol. What would we do without our mommies??? Time to go eat a lot of green veggies and drink a lot of water! Hopefully that will also help the little one out.

Love My Little Love - 3 Month Checkup

Daisy had her 3 month checkup this morning. She weighs 13.6 pounds is 23 1/2 inches long and I can't remember her head size but, it was average which is good:-). The pediatrician just raved about how healthy and adorable Daisy is. I told her I was worried that she might be too round and jolly for her age but, she said she looks perfect and could be a Gerber Baby cover model! haha Nothing like a great compliment to put a mama at ease. Daisy had to get two shots this morning. I had been told at her last checkup that she would be getting four shots, so when I learned that Daisy would only be needing two shots today, I actually felt relieved. Daisy of course was not a happy camper after the first shot and just as she started to calm down from that one then came the other one which produced the most unhappy cry I have ever heard come out of Daisy's cute little mouth, a purple face and tons of tears. I'm proud to say that I held it together really well and fortunately I was able to soothe Daisy in just a minute and then I nursed her in the room which calmed her even more. She fell asleep immediately after which was wonderful! I gave her some baby Tylenol and as we speak Daisy is napping again. The medicine and shots combined can make a baby very sleepy...and fussy, but for now just sleepy.

On a side note: Our nanny has flown the coop or in other words deserted us. A handful of people are aware of the issues we were having with her but, I really was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt and be patient with her. Last Friday was a bizarre day and the nanny was just down right rude and abrupt with me and today she just decided not to show up or call. I had to take the day off at the last minute because I don't have a back up. It of course makes me question myself and Daisy and wonder what we did wrong to make her flee but, regardless, she is gone and perhaps it is a blessing in disguise because I was planning on letting her go as soon as we could find a replacement. I guess the feeling was mutual. lol. Joey's sister has been kind enough to be a stand in nanny until our replacement is available in a few weeks. God is ever faithful to provide and to hold us steady so to Him I give all the glory! I'll keep you posted on how all this pans out. Stay tuned....
