Photography Goodie Wish List

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this camera bag from Epiphani!! What could be more fun that having a bright turquoise purse to tote around all my photography goodies!!! Definitely going to get one someday!

I definitely need a good macro lens and ideally I'd like to get a Canon lens with IS. Love this one!
Top on my list of things I need to save for is a photography backdrop stand so I can hang my backdrops and offer more indoor photo sessions for kids and babies especially when weather is not favorable outside
I currently have the 50 mm 1.8 lens and I love it but, I have heard that the 50 mm 1.4 hasa surprisingly faster focusing mechanism and is even sharper. Sign me up!

12 Month Beauty

12 month Stats (way behind...bad mommy)
At Daisy's check up last week she weighed 19 pounds 1 ounce
and was 29.3 inches long
Head circumference was 45.2 cm
Goes to bed at 7:30 (ish) and wakes up at 6:30 (ish)
Not a day goes by that I don't thank God that Daisy sleeps through the night now! lol
Is going through an extra, super clingy mommy phase..just in the past week or so
Wants me to hold her a lot
But she is also good at playing by herself if she is in a good mood
Has 13 teeth and is currently cutting AGAIN!!!
INSANE how many teeth she has and how endless her teething pain is
Takes a few steps every day hands fress but still...not walking
Has learned how to hold and use a sippy cup!! Big girl!
She drinks to 6 ounce sippy cups a day
It was NOT a hard transition to the sippy cup at all though I did have to teach her how to use the sippy cup for about a month before I relied on it for a feeding. Patience is key!
And I nurse her twice a day also...weaning off completely in the next month or two.
Loves her pacifier and blankie
Has a slight reddish tint to her hair. She didn't get that from me or Joey
Her eyes are not completely brown. They are more hazel brown..with flecks of green and gold Very pretty eyes!
Loves doggies
Loves to be asked "where is your belly" or "where is my belly"
She will lift up her shirt and grab her belly or lift up my shirt and pinch my belly button
TOO CUTE!!
Says bye and hi all the time while waving. Darling.
Eats just about whatever I eat, minus uncooked veggies
Loves to clap
Throws one year old tantrums and flings back
I haven't quite decided how to address this yet so currently I ignore her
Hates having her diaper changed because she hates being laid down
Loves being naked and crawls a lot faster when she is. So funny!
Empties everything...drawers, baskets, buckets etc. A big mess for momma.
Gives great kisses and especially loves to kiss me when I am feeding her my snacks..her happy time
likes when I chase her or gently wrestle with her.
Loves playing "where's Daisy?" I can get a good laugh out of her when we play this
Interacts really well with other kids

I love you my sweet angel baby! Thank you for the most beautiful year of my life.

We were at Target and saw this cute white hat. Daddy turned to mush when we tried it on Daisy. He didn't care what it cost..."buy it for my little Princess," he said without hesitation. I think I am sensing a pattern here...lol

We took down the party decor weeks ago but, I am behind posting these two pictures. We got Daisy this ball bounce thing for her birthday because she seemed to really like it at our neighbor's house. We spent several hours blowing it up...I nearly passed out doing so as a matter a fact...only to soon discover that Daisy had no interest in the "arcade" whatsoever. We gave it a couple days but, the disinterest continued so we deflated the thing and took it back. No sense letting it take up space for no reason. It sure looked cute in the house though!

Momma In Focus

Happy Friday friends! Thanks for stopping by for another week of Momma in Focus! This week's prompt word was jammies. I only have one picture of me and Daisy hanging out in our jammies together...which is surprising considering how much time she and I spend together in our jammies (a lot!) lol. So I thought this would be a good challenge for us this week! The hubs snapped these for me and I have to say that I really enjoy having him around to do this for me every week as he is able to capture things so well. Daisy has just started showing an interest in reading in the past month or so. She loves to flip the pages and listen to me makes noises for the animals. The more dramatic my readings the longer the book maintains her interest! lol. I look forward to many more book readings together in our jammies in the years to come!

I hope you all had a wonderful and blessed week with your kiddos. Cherish every second. Take extra moments to kiss those sweet faces, give longer hugs, play make believe, do anything to make them laugh, tickle them, listen to them and smell their fresh hair after a bath. It all goes SO fast!!

The Measure of a Man

I haven't been in much of a blogging or a blog hopping mood this past week so I thought it was time that I share why.

As I have mentioned briefly a few times in past posts my hubby has been battling various health issues. The biggie battles are with severe depression and anxiety. My strong, energetic, happy, hard working hubby has a chemical imbalance that requires that he always take something to keep balanced. The problem he ran into was that after 7 years, the medication was giving him severe headaches/migraines that were too much for him to handle. He also developed TMJ due to the side effect of clinching his teeth during his sleep from the medications. The TMJ is also severe and causes intense jaw pain on a daily basis. There is also an issue with his hearing/sound (TMJ related) and ulcers from the overwhelming stress. ALL of these things are intertwined and effect each other for the worse. My hubby tried to work these things out with the help of his doctors and counselors but, things were not improving so currently my hubby, the awesome man that he is, is seeking further support for the depression and anxiety with a treatment program. This is a VERY slow recovery and a VERY hard recovery for him and quite frankly for me. My hubby is am amazing guy and anyone who has met him knows that he is FULL of life and passion and that nothing slows him down. This has been going on for about a year and a half but, has been the hardest over the past 8 months or so.

I have never before felt called to a cause but, now more than ever I feel an overpowering desire to speak out about mental health. There are so many misconceptions about mental health but, there is also such a great need for better treatment and care for people battling their minds. I personally know so many people who live depressed on a daily basis and either don't recognize it or are afraid to admit it and get the help they need and deserve to live their life to the fullest. If any of you know someone or are personally battling depression/anxiety, etc. please know that you are not alone! Get counseling and if needed, find a temporary or permanent mediation that will bring you more balance with the help of a specialist.

I struggled with horrible depression the first 4 months of my pregnancy. I have experienced first hand how hormones can impair a person's ability to find joy. I have never had issues with depression before and I tried EVERYTHING to encourage myself to not feel the way I did and nothing helped. I remember the battle inside myself was so intense. I kept telling myself that I was stronger than the cloud hanging over me and that I could beat it but, I just couldn't. I didn't even want to share with anyone that we were pregnant because I wasn't excited about it at all... and for the record this was a VERYY wanted pregnancy so there was NO reason for me to not want to share other than I felt AWFUL. I remember to the day exactly when the cloud lifted. I woke up one morning and just felt VERY different. I immediately recognized that I felt lighter, and even happy. I hesitated to get too excited about the new feeling because I thought it might be temporary. I remember showering and expecting the cloud to come over me again at any second but, it never came back!! All this to say that I get it. I get that it is a chemical thing and that people can't just "choose to be happy," or use the "mind over matter," techniques in that state. It's more than just a bad day, week or even years.

My husband is an incredible man of God. Not a day goes by that he doesn't tell me how much he loves me or appreciates me during this challenging season. He is doing everything in his power to get himself well again and to me that is THE MEASURE OF A MAN. A man who has the strength even in weakness to do what is best for himself and his family. A man who is humble enough to admit that he needs help and yet strong enough to not let it dent his honor. A man man who leans on the Lord when he is weak and leans on those he loves instead of pushing them away in his pain. A man who doesn't try to fix it or do it all on his own when he knows he can't. A man who doesn't cast blame on others and instead excepts responsibility for his own actions. A man who is willing to share his struggles even in the face of them, with others in hope that he can help and encourage through his experiences. This truly is the measure of a man. I don't know when this "cloud"along with the other health issues are going to be a thing of the past but, I know if anyone can get through it, my husband can. We welcome your prayers and support!

We have had an outpouring of support from family, friends, our church and our neighbors. I am humbled by the love we have been shown during this season. Thank you a million times over to everyone who has reached out to us in some way or another and to everyone who is taking the extra time to stick with Joey (and me) during this long road to recovery.

I asked my hubby if he minded if I shared this and being the awesome guy that he is he gave me the green light to share because he trusts me. I'm a lucky gal to be able to blog about something so personal! One thing I know all to well is that secrets consume a person, a family and a marriage. We want to let it all hang out so to speak so that God can be given all the glory when Joey is well again. We want to be as real as we can with everyone so that we don't have to wear a mask. It is so tiring to wear a mask and if any of you are carrying one I hope you can learn to take it off and let out whatever you are holding on to. We are about to celebrate 7 years of marriage on May 1st and we have been together for over 11 years now. Thanks to the Lord's constant efforts to refine us, we have a pretty solid foundation built on the rock. This season is very hard but, it is only making us stronger all praise to Jesus for that! These pictures were taken last year on our 6 year anniversary and I shared some last year but, wanted to share a few again today. I did just have a baby and it was 95 degrees out with sweltering humidity so forgive us for looking uh, moist! lol.

I love my guy to pieces! He is so handsome, funny, helpful, hard working, an awesome Daddy and my very best friend. Get well hubby so we can get back to exploring the wonders of the world together!! All my love.

28 Today!


Today I am 28 (woot woot!!)
No, I am not anxious that I am only 2 years away from 30
Though truth be told it does blow my mind that I am getting older
It feels like just yesterday that I was the nervous 16 year old gal standing in line at the DMV waiting to take my driver's test.
God continues to remind me that life is precious. Every minute of every day is precious.
Every day is special and deserves to be celebrated!
Today me and Daisy picked Joey up. He hadn't seen her in a week and was overjoyed when her smiling face peaked at him from around the corner. She wouldn't let him put her down! It was a very special morning!

What did I learn this past year?
That I am stronger than I thought I was!
That patience really is a virtue
That being a parent is the hardest thing I've ever experienced but, also the most meaningful, life changing and love awakening!
I've learned that I have the MOST AMAZING friends. I have truly been overwhelmed by the love and support that my friends have shown me during this season.
I've learned that after having kids it is even harder to live so far away from my family in California. I want them here all the time now more than ever!! I'm sure a lot of you can relate.
That I didn't get married to have a perfect life. I got married to have an amazing best friend to journey through life's ups and downs with. It's as close to perfect as it gets!
That Jesus is the sweetest name I know

Also want to shout out to all other April birthdays! My dear Grandma had a birthday a few days ago. Happy Birthday Grammy! April is such a beautiful month to be born. Spring is awakening and the sun is shining!

Momma In Focus Friday

I didn't have the hubby around to take our pictures this week so this is my first, point and shoot, flash, nighttime, last minute link up! lol. I made me and Daisy a couple of crowns out of poster board and I was having a lot of fun wearing my Queen Momma crown but, I think it was too close to Daisy's bedtime because her Princess Daisy crown didn't seem to be as much fun as you can tell by her serious faces. lol What amazes me is that she still looks at the camera all the time even when no one is holding it! My kid is quite programmed!! haha
