I'm A Mom...

Duh. Of course I'm a mom but, I had one of those moments today; one of those moments where I had to stop and stare in awe and wonder at my daughter and then actually had to remind myself that she is my little girl and that I am her mommy! I looked back at her sweet little face conked out in her car seat, her strawberry blond hair going every direction, her pacifier hanging half out of her mouth and her little fingers clutching the satin edge of her blanket and my heart swelled with love. God, I can't believe you have entrusted her into my care. I can't believe I'm old enough to be someones mommy. I can't believe I gave birth to this little girl who is the spitting image of her Daddy.  I can't believe she looks up to me and that I get to teach her right and wrong. Wow! What an honor and a responsibility!
I took my sister to the airport tonight.  Yes, I am VERY sad that she is gone.  She is such a helpful, entertaining and beautiful person inside and out and her company will be sorely missed!  But..back to my story.  I was in absolute mommy Heaven watching my daughter walk hand in hand with her auntie around the airport while I waited in line to check my sister's bag.  Daisy waved at just about everyone going by and would shout out a cheery, "hi."  She smiled so big any time someone acknowledged her and acted even sillier if they waved back.  I was just soaking it all up and would have been happy to stand in line a long time just to watch my little girl and my youngest sister interacting together.  I'm a Mom and it makes my heart soar!
My little gal was sick during most of my sister's visit and as a result she was a bit cranky unfortunately.  A few hours before we were about to head to the airport today, my sister, Daisy and I were sitting on the couch talking when Daisy stood up and gave my sister a sweet little kiss and then proceeded to give her like twenty baby kisses for no apparent reason.  It was as if she knew that auntie was leaving, she felt bad for being so grouchy and wanted to make it up.  I swear it was the cutest thing I've ever seen and even I have never been given more than a single baby kiss.  My sister and I were laughing so hard we both had tears in our eyes!   I'm a Mom and I just can't get enough!

  2. This is such a beautiful post!! I can't wait to be a mom...I can't even begin to imagine what it must feel like. My best friend always says that the most amazing thing is seeing her friends love on her babies.

  3. Those baby Nikes are to die for. I need to find Lila some cute "big girl shoes" with closed toes for her new daycare next month. Glad you had a great time with your sister!

  4. Awe... those moments are so sweet. The ones where you just have to stop in disbelief, that this child is actually MINE. That God has trusted me with this little life. It really makes you appreciate how important that life is - and how important our roles are, as Mothers. Adorable picture, as always.

  7. I love her strawberry blonde hair. And those little Nike shoes are adorable on her. :) I often times look at my son and wonder, "what?...I'm a mom? Really? How did this happen?" (Not in a bad way, of course, but just that oh my gosh way!)

  8. Sweet! She is adorable! I was just thinking the same thing tonight as I drove home with my Emma in the back seat. What a gift from God! What a blessing! Wow, she's mine!

  10. Aww, what a sweet post. I have many moments of, "Wow! I'm a mom! And God loves me so much that he gave me these beautiful girls to care for and love." And what a sweet moment between Anna and Daisy...I bet that made her trip. And what happened to Daisy's rolls!! These kids need to stop growing. Last thing...In the last picture, I think Daisy looks like you. :-)

  11. You are so admirable..i am 30 years old and still feeling not ready to have kids. I think i am too childish, egoistic and i have no structure when it comes to geting up/cooking/laundry. We are at the dropzones most of the times and i couldn't imagine how it would be with a baby....

  12. I love how Daisy seems to like turning things over...like she knows they'd be more fun on their side! And that pic of her about to lick the Swiffer...yikes!

She truly is precious. As blessed as you feel to have her, she is doubly blessed to have YOU! You're a wonderful Mama!

  18. Those little tiny Nike's kill me with cuteness!

What blessing motherhood is! I'm glad you took some time to just soak that in and absorb the blessing, all too often it's lost in the sea of daily tasks.

  21. For a moment, I thought you were announcing that you are a mom AGAIN! Although, that phrase never really made sense. "I'm gonna be a Grandma again!" Listen old lady, you are going to be a grandma STILL just with more grandkids to drive you batty! =)

I love the Nikes!!!!!!!!!! Too cute!

Daisy is actually looking less like a baby and more like a real person (I say that tongue in cheek of course because that is another thing that gets me...when people don't consider babies as real people)!! She is so beautiful and yes, being a mom is such a tremendous privilege!!

  23. What a beautiful post with beautiful pictures! I love when I get the chance to just sit back for a few moments and watch how K interacts with family. It makes me happy knowing she's bringing joy into other people's lives. Specially when it's family she doesn't get to see often. :)
