Pink

My Grandma loves flowers of every color, style and size and I definitely inherited that love! My favorite flower used to be a white lily but in November of last year a friend of mine brought me a bunch of carnations in a clear white jar and I have been hooked on the shabby chic colored flowers ever since! The great thing about carnations (which I used to hate by the way), is that they last forever!! The jar of flowers that she gave me lasted me a month with ease! They say it is good to change the water for flowers daily to keep them thriving. I can't get around to it that often but I try to at least a few times a week. I think it helps! Pink flowers are my thing right now! Funny thing is, pink is another thing that I have always hated. I was never into frilly or girly things and pink is definitely girlie. Now I can't get enough of pink: flowers, bedding, artwork, clothing, curtains, paint, furniture. I must be needing to get something out of my system or something like that:). Thankfully, Joey doesn't seem to mind. What a guy!

Fireproof is out on DVD!!!

Joey and I watched this movie when it came out in theaters and we were both so incredibly blessed and inspired by it. I think a lot of you have also seen it, but I just wanted to support it yet again now that it is out on DVD. Joey was so excited about this movie being released that he bought it online and we are both eager to watch it again. It's such a beautiful reminder that marriage should be (and can be!) a lifelong commitment and is not something to abuse or neglect. It is so important to continually work on your marriage and this movie does a great job depicting that. I'm looking forward to seeing what other movies these guys come out with in the future. They also directed and wrote Facing the Giants in case you didn't know. We love that one too!

The Other Eye

Logan is so cute that it is hard for Joey and I to stop taking pictures of him! We can't get enough of this kid! He made some funny faces for Joey while we waited for our lunch and kept us entertained.

These are the pictures that Joey took with his digital camera this past weekend in Edenton. I really like that Joey and I both have our own cameras, because we get different perspectives on things and I always love that Joey's eye catches things that mine never would. Not to mention, it is nice that we don't have to fight over a camera, since we both love to take pictures. lol. I love the pictures that Joey captured of the old lighthouse and my personal favorite is the sharp angled picture right above the picture of Elissa and me. Since we are on the subject, I would like to add, I love my husband! He has such a positive attitude and he works so hard for us every day so that we can live in this beautiful home and enjoy some of the luxeries this life offers. His love for the Lord inspires me constantly. I am so thankful for him! xoxo

I'm so eager for the phone to ring and for Elissa (my very preggo friend in these pictures), or my other dear pal, Melissa (9 months preggo and back in Cali), to tell me that they are in labor! Well, let me rephrase that, I'm not eager to know that they are in pain, but eager to know that the babies are on the way:) hehe. Their children (Logan and Madelyn) have brought so much joy into mine and Joey's lives and we can't wait to meet the newest addition's to their families! We're praying for you guys!

Edenton and friends

Joey and I went to Edenton, NC to meet up with our good friends Mike, Elissa and their son Logan today. Logan will be 2 in March and has a baby brother on the way any day now:). Edenton is known as the prettiest, small town in NC. Small it is. We pretty much walked through the majority of the shops and the historic buildings in half a day and then we weren't sure what to do with ourselves. haha. It is a very pretty and quaint thought. It sits right beside an enormous bay and all of the houses and buildings are very old and beautiful. I think my favorite thing about old towns is the architecture. Things just aren't built the same way anymore.

I also added a picture of a gorgeous sunset the first night that it snowed here. I dropped my digital camera in the snow right after the picture was taken and for 3 days my lens was fogged over. I thought for sure the camera was a goner, but it finally dried out and all is well, thank goodness! Enjoy the pics!

More Snow Fun

The biggest request I have been getting is, "post pictures of Dakota, please." So here are a few pictures of our beloved mini Dachshund enjoying the snow, as evidenced by the white powder sitting on her nose. I thought her little paws would freeze off, but it never seemed to bother her. I also added another picture of our welcome sign, much more tucked into the snow at the end of the day than the previous picture:). Joey worked from home for two days because the roads were quite dangerous with black ice. It was nice to have someone else around to help me keep Dakota out of trouble and just nice to have him around during work hours:) What a treat! That is about all there is to report on for now.

Snow Day!! 1-20-09

We woke up to a winter wonderland this morning. The forecast said that snow would start falling around midnight and by the time we woke up, everything was covered in a good two inches of white powder. It snowed pretty steadily until about 1PM today. It was so beautiful to watch the snow flakes swirl around before they found a place to land and even prettier to observe all of creation painted white! This is our first snow in our new home and our first decent snow in North Carolina. Last year's snow was pretty weak to say the least. By the end of the day today we had about 6 inches or so. Sweet! Our neighbors were kind enough to let us use the front of their pretty brick house to take a picture. We love our neighbors!

Dakota was very skeptical of the snow at first and getting her to go potty on the lawn was asking way too much. I was just thankful that she made it out the back door! lol. But, by the end of the day today, she must have convinced herself that she was a snow plow because she went flying through our backyard, flinging snow up in the air and biting at it and digging holes everywhere. It was hilarious! I'll try and attach a video that we got of her later. Wish you could all be here with us, enjoying a nice hot cup of cider or cocoa and watching a good flick:).

Some random fun

Joey and I had a nice weekend. We went to Circuit City to see if they had any good deals now that they have begun their liquidation phase (sad huh). They are still just as overpriced as ever. Joey is kind of hoping that the prices will get better so that he can buy a new digital camera. I doubt Circuit City will discount much. The parking lot was like an amusement park and the shelves were already looking empty even though there really wasn't a sale in sight. Go figure. I guess when people hear that a store is going out of business they feel the urge to buy something even if they could get it cheaper online:) lol. After dealing with the madness at two different Circuit Cities, we went to my favorite antique store, Suzanna's Antiques. This shop is headed up by a bunch of super creative woman who give old furniture a shabby chic face lift and create adorable little trinkets out of the most random things. I could spend hours in this store; however, on Saturday the temperature inside the tin building was probably about 15 degrees and neither Joey nor myself could handle it. We were both turning blue, so I made the trip quick. I got an awesome beat up, painted bar stool for our kitchen counter. I want to have a bunch of funky colored, chipped up bar stools. One down, three to go! I have attached a picture of it for fun. I also got a couple of decorative jars of which I would have bought many more, but they were kinda pricey. Seriously though, if you are ever in Raleigh, stop by Suzanna's Antiques. It is the cutest store in town and the hospitality is just as wonderful!

Our last stop was Rooms to Go. Joey and I have been looking high and low for the last year and a half for a wide screen TV armoire. We finally found what we were looking for online at R2G and we purchased it Saturday. It is being shipped up from Florida and should arrive at our house on Friday. I'm looking forward to that delivery!! Saturday night we played poker (no money involved:), with our neighbors across the street. It was my first time playing and Joey hadn't played in years. Everyone was so patient as I tried to learn as quickly as possible. I guess beginner's luck is a real thing because out of 8 people, it came down to me and Travis, the guy who was hosting. He won, but just barely:). lol. I was so proud of myself and I think Joey was too by the way:). That is about all for now!

Bringing Joey's presense into this blog

Lord willin' and the crick don't rise, Joey will be getting a newer 4 door Dodge Ram this September. We both agree that it will be difficult to squeeze a car seat (don't get any ideas....) into a single cab truck, so we want to think ahead and be better prepared for when that time does come. Now you all know what Joey is dreaming about every day! haha Joey would love it if the truck had a slight lift...not over the top like the lifted truck picture I have added..but I thought it was fun to look at:). There, now this blog isn't blatantly screaming, "this is a woman's blog," it's only softly screaming:-) haha (the dark gray truck is Joey's favorite by the way)

A few more decor pics...I can't help myself...

So, what can I say, I'm a sucker for soft colors, big fluffy pillows, long flowing curtains and mix and match patterns. Now you all know exactly what I like! haha A cottage house with blue shutters or an older home with creaking wood floors would be a dream!
