Momma In Focus - Black and White

Daisy fell asleep in my arms this week.  She had actually just woken up from a really short nap due to teething and we were sitting on the floor in the living room when slowly and unexpectedly she dozed off again.  We sat like this for an hour and a half.  I haven't held her asleep in my arms since she was a few months old.  She has never been one to sleep in my arms much to begin with and of course the older she gets the more rare these moments become.  My back was killing me the first hour because I was leaning on the hard couch afraid to move and wake her and my head was up too high to rest on the couch and I couldn't find my phone anywhere to browse online while I sat.  It seemed that God had created the perfect scenario for me to pray for my daughter and he left me with nothing else to do so that I wouldn't miss his prompting.  So, I did just that.  I prayed for her health, her joy, for a wonderful husband for her someday, a strong mind, a passion for Jesus, a heart for others and for the confidence to know that she is beautiful because God made no mistakes with her! It was a precious time  I soaked up every minute of it.  I gazed upon her strawberry blond hair, her long dark lashes, her fair smooth skin, the dimples on her hand clutching the blanket she rested on.  AHHH, these are the moments I'll remember all my life.  It's in moments like these that time almost stops.  Nothing else matters.  Life is swirling in crazy motion all the time but, these precious times make my heart soar and refresh my soul.  This is the joy of being a mommy.  There are many a hard day as a mother...many, but, something as simple as the trust my child has to fall into restful slumber in my arms, the security she has in my presence...is the best reward this Earth can offer.

I look forward to seeing your black and whites this week!
Next week's prompt: details (this can be interpreted however you choose!) but, if you are confused think of the details of your child and then your details and how those things can be captured together....need more help...your face doesn't have to be in the picture but  then again it can be if you are capturing those details!

  7. I miss those moments so much. Wyatt doesn't nap anymore at all, and he's far to busy exploring the world to hold still long enough for me to hold him. Every now and then, I'll sneak into his room after he's asleep and just pore over his cute little peaceful face...just like the book says, he'll always be my baby!

Daisy is so blessed to have a Momma who prays for her! Hope you have a wonderful day, friend!

  15. I love nothing more than holding my babies while they sleep. It's in those moments that I also say my greatest prayers of thanks to God for giving me the most wondeful gift in the world - my darling daughter, sweet son & motherhood.

    Happy Mother's Day Casey.
