Momma In Focus - Boo Boos

As Momma's, when our princesses and princes get boo boos on their bodies, we momma's get boo boos on our hearts.  Today my little girl had her first big fall and hit her head and nose really hard on the nasty edge of our granite fireplace flooring.  She was climbing on the foot cushion for one of our sofas and the cushion flipped off the sofa and sent her toppling face first.  I keep pillows on our granite fireplace to try and minimize injuries and thus far we have been injury free.  Sigh.  I saw the entire thing and I was moving quickly to her as I saw her climbing on the cushion because I knew what could happen and like those moments depicted in slow motion in a horror movie, she toppled before my legs could reach her.  It's sometimes a bit more than a mommy's heart can bear to actually witness your child (or any child for that matter) getting badly hurt and I know you all know what I mean.
Daisy was definitely sluggish tonight but, I think that was more due to the intense crying from her fall and it all being so close to her bed time.  We have a lot of great nurse connections so we are monitoring her closely and will take her to the ER if needed. She was much more cuddly than usual tonight and didn't want me to put her down, so we watched this while snuggled together on the couch (something she never does with me)....

I melted into mommy Heaven as I watched my little girl's toes wiggle to the music and watched her rub the satin edge of her blanket between her fingers.  I gazed at her big boo boos on her face and my heart broke but, as I listened to the sweet words of Amazing Grace I felt the sweet arms of my Jesus holding us both.  The Grace of the Lord is amazing.  There are no words to describe how sweet His grace is in my life.  I'm so thankful He is watching over my little girl tonight.  I am so thankful He gives me extra strength for the super tiring days and then scary evenings when my little one gets hurt.  I am so thankful for the peace that passes all understanding.  I am so thankful to be a Momma even when it hurts really bad.  I love you so much Daisy and I pray that your boo boos heal quickly in Jesus name!

  12. soo scary :( and it is never something you get used to! Curren had 5 ER trips by the time he was 20 months old, one being stitches putting his chin back in one piece! Just so you know...Curren NEVER wanted to cuddle. but at around 2 or 2 and a half..he became a major cuddler, mainly with me..it's the best when you have a non cuddly kid in the first year/s!

  13. Poor Daisy, and poor momma! That has got to be the hardest thing - watching our kids get hurt. I know the summer Max was two I couldn't even watch Max run outside when he had shorts on. I just knew he'd trip and he did. Lots of skinned knees that summer. Hope she is feeling better soon. Enjoy the sweet cuddle time for now. :)

  16. It's always hard to watch your little one get hurt. Your thoughts for her are sweet and I'd glad you felt Jesus' arms around you both there on the couch afterwards. He is so good to us. Hope you're doing well my friend!

  21. I hate it when they fall too. Sadly my little one doesn't learn, so she keeps being the same crazy dare devil she's always been. I think I need to buy her a cape so she has something to help her land. Hope Daisey feels better soon!

  22. Aw, I'm so sorry that happened. I hate when it does, Little One has had numerous falls and ER/Urgent Care trips and I hate when I'm not quick enough to stop her from falling. I hope your little one feels much better!

  23. Poor thing. It's so hard when they hurt. I'm glad she is okay and that the mommy snuggles helped. As they get older, we will miss these days when kisses & snuggles could make it all better.
