The Start of a New Year -2009-

Most of our friends have a blog to keep their family and friends up to date so I thought, why not, I might as well join the masses and give myself yet another technical distraction. So, now instead of sending bulk e-mail updates I will simply try and update this blog periodically...or fail miserably and give up all together;). lol. If any of you have a blog that I am unaware of please let me know so that I can add your link to my page.

So, January of 2009. Joey is starting up classes at University of Phoenix next week. He has two or three more classes to complete before his Bachelor's degree in Business is official (he already walked a long time ago). He is actually looking forward to being back in a classroom and studying again. I am so proud of him for sticking to it! The fishing has been a bit of a disappointment for quite some time. It seems that even with all of the lakes in North Carolina they are still over fished and as such Joey hasn't caught anything too exciting in quite some time which is frustrating for him. Plus, it is getting very chilly here. The morning temperatures can range from 10-30 degrees and add the wind chill from a boat blasting across a lake, to that and it is a bitter cold fishing morning! I hope it gets better for Joey this spring when things start to warm up again!

This is going to be a pretty mellow month for us which is really nice after the rush of Christmas. I think Joey and I are both thawing out mentally and enjoying the down time when we have it. I'm sure it won't be quiet on the home front for long.

My free time seems to be focused on decorating books, websites and magazines these days. I don't know that I will ever tire of it! I have so many things that I hope to do with our home over the years that we are here. I think I will have to subject you all to a few decorating pictures that I have found online and love! I am most intrigued by the cottage, shabby chic and country styles lately. So while Joey fishes or plays Command and Conquer on his Xbox360, I dream away and decorate our entire house in my head over and over again:) haha.

The only big thing on our calendar right now is our 5 year anniversary trip to the Dominican Republic this May! Yeah! We are both really excited about this vacation as it will be our first get away since our honeymoon to Costa Rica...five years ago:) I think we are bit overdue for a break from life and the daily grind. Please be praying for us, if you think about it, that God would have his hand over our trip and the planning process. We both hope that it all comes together smoothly and that we have a really refreshing time in the DR...in Jesus name! I need to get a new Passport as quickly as possible and that can be easier said than done. Just 3 months and 2 weeks to go! Eeekkk! lol.

That is all that there is to report on in the fascinating lives of Joey and Casey at this time. Hopefully I will have some pictures to share soon too.

  1. How exciting. I can't wait to follow along with your life. Post pictures...lots of pictures. Blogs are boring when you don't post pictures.
