We are Here!

This nice resort that we are staying at happens to have a free internet cafe upstairs so I can post an update much to my delight! The flight was low key and uneventful, except that I got sicker than a dog as usual and for that I absolutely hate flying. Driving from the airport to our resort for 20 minutes was a little scary at times. There are seldom lines on the roads and motorcyles and taxi buses are often riding in the same direction, side by side in a very small lane just barely getting by each other without colliding. I felt my heart stop a few times to say the least! haha. Our resort is beautiful and we got a lovely beach front room with one problem...the air conditioner started leaking at about 5PM. The crew came in and "repaired" it but within 4 hours it had begun leaking again and this time so badly that we had a small pool in our room and I am not exaggerating there! Joey and I didn't want to deal with it at that point because we were soooooo tired and wiped out from getting up at 3AM so we tried to ignore it. All night long we got to enjoy the "drip, drip, drop, drop, splash, plunk, sounds from the unit on the ceiling droping onto the floor below. Has anyone ever seen that oolllllldddd Donald Duck cartoon where Donald is in his house and trying to sleep but his sink faucet is dripping on the plates and pots in the sink? All night Donald tries sleep and tune out the sound but it starts sounding like cymbols and bombs going off over time...please tell me someone knows what I am talking about?? hahaha..Well, that was our night to a tee!! Quite comical actually. We got offered a new room this morning and we accepted it and all has been fine since. Today we ate at a few delicious restaurants and booked our tours for the week. We made the mistake of thinking that an American Express card could be used here as we read online that they can...no one here takes American Express so there goes that money that we had saved for this trip..Ouch to say the least. Today Joey bought a cheap mask so that he could do a little snorkeling by our resort and he got to see all sorts of pretty tropical fish. I of course was laying out in the warm sun and swimming while he battled the current. lol. We have booked a white water rafting tour, a 27 waterfalls tour, a tour of the capital and Columbus' ruins in Santa Domingo, deep sea diving day for Joey (I can't handle the boat for that long), we are meeting with our friend's sister who lives here this week and we booked a wildlife and snorkel trip! We just ate dinner in the dark outside on the beach by candlelight with musicians playing beside us. Joey downed his lobster and proceeded to finish off my fish platter. He is a never ending stomach! Tomorrow Joey does his fishing with a local guy and I will get some time in to practice my photography here. I'm looking forward to it! We have saved and planned to take this long vacation for the past 2 years and knowing that it might not happen again for a while we want to make sure we enjoy every minute of it and as you can tell...we are trying to accomplish that! lol. Thank you all for your prayers! I know God has his hand on us. This morning while we ate our continental breakfast on the beach and stared out at the beautiful tourquoise water, I listened to the music playing in the background and it didn't take more than a minute to know that it was worship music in spanish. It was beautiful to say the least! I confirmed that with the waiter and he was happy that we liked it. I looked at Joey and said, "It's like God is reaching down and giving us a big hug!" Amen! That's all for now folks. I can't post pictures unfortunately so I apologize for this rather boring and wordy update but hope it holds you all over:). We miss you all. xoxo
