The 4th & 14 Weeks Old

I wish I could take credit for this adorable, patriotic cake but, as most of you are well aware...something this pretty and baked would not be my area of expertise. The credit goes to my hub's Aunt Kathy. The cake was just as pretty inside as out. Unfortunately, I failed to get a picture of that..shame on me:). Tasted delicious too!
Daisy is making all sorts of funny faces now. They were cracking us all up on the 4th of July
Great Grandma Bailey and Daisy hanging out on the porch
Mama and Daisy
The cake maker - Aunt Kathy
The brownie maker and cousin - Robin
Love this munchkin!
I think this face is saying, "mom, get that camera out of my face. I'm so tired of you taking my picture!" hehe
The hubby's weekend project; new step rails for his manly truck:) He has been saving for these suckers for a really long time and finally with some birthday $$ he got em. They really enhance the look of the truck but, you really gotta see it in person to tell:). I have to add that when I was pregnant it was such a pain to hoist myself up into his truck and I was constantly telling Joey how badly I wished we could afford some step rails so I could get into the truck. Well, the baby is out of me and now we have the step rails. Hopefully they will make round two easier:)

We spent our 4th of July weekend hanging out with family, doing yard work, house projects and relaxing. Daisy did awesome on her first long car ride to the lake and she even fell asleep on our late night drive home and stayed asleep in the transfer process from her car seat to her crib. Let me tell yah, that was such a blessing because I was soooo tired and I really didn't know what to expect. She slept great that night too. Double yeah! 3 day weekends are such a welcome change because I feel like we are actually able to get things accomplished even if they are only little things. My weekend goal was to do something about our pitiful entryway (a work in progress..I'll post pics soon) and the hubs installed his step rails. All in all a productive weekend.

Daisy is 14 weeks old today. Time just keeps rolling right on by and my little gal is growing so fast. She's so much more active these days and I can tell that she is dying to roll, sit up or just all around be more mobile. I on the other hand am okay with her lack of mobility at the moment because it sure does keep things simpler:). lol It seems that Daisy is wanting to be held a bit more than usual lately. I'm not sure if that is because she hasn't been feeling well or because she is bored of laying around all the time. She loves chewing on her fingers, squealing and kicking her legs rapidly. She is such a cutie pie!

Now to wrap up the episode of American Chopper that I am watching with the hubs (I never thought I would be interested in a show about building motorcycles but, I love it) and then off to bed. I've gotta say that I love my small window of "me" time that I get each night after Daisy goes to sleep. Usually that window is 9:30-10:30 PM and it's the one time during the day that I can do whatever I want. It really helps recharge my battery for the next day. Heavenly!

Very Soon

Very soon this work week will be over and very soon my mommy will be visiting me from California for a week. YEAH!! She hasn't been here since Daisy was six weeks old. I'm so glad she gets to come out again and visit with me. I've found that I am a horrible phone friend now that I have a a child and work full time so having my mommy come out here is the best because we get to chat a lot without interruptions. I don't know how my friends find the time to chat on the phone with more than one child as I barely get a little conversation going before I have to wrap it up. My hat is off to you ladies!

Daisy update

Thanks so much for the feedback guys! I really appreciate you all so very much. xoxo

The pediatrician finally called me back and authorized the use of glycerin suppositories to see if that would help. It kinda made me nervous to try the suppositories on Daisy because they are intended for kids ages 2-6 years of age...and on a 3 month old it just seemed like too much but, I didn't feel like I had another option. Joey's sister was here with me and was so supportive and helped keep me calm today. Thanks Jess!! Literally no more than one or two minutes after giving Daisy the suppository she was exploding for a good few minutes and I could tell it was upsetting her tummy because she was very serious and making a weird inhaling noise the whole time which freaked me out. Literally after pooping everything in her system out in a couple of minutes, we had one heck of a full diaper and one super duper exhausted baby girl. She conked out almost immediately in my arms. I know that babies that are nursed can go a few days without pooping but, as mamas we also know our babies potty routines and we know when they are in pain so that is the only reason I know this is constipation. She was screaming in pain but, still trying to smile at us...oh my gosh, this mommy thing is taking my heart on a whole new roller coaster and I know it never ends:). I called my mommy to get some advice today and I think I took her heart on a roller coaster too. lol. What would we do without our mommies??? Time to go eat a lot of green veggies and drink a lot of water! Hopefully that will also help the little one out.

Quick Question

I'm curious as to what you other mamas have done to help your little ones when they are clogged up. My little gal has started having issues with this over the past few days and it's clear that she is in a lot of pain. Our pediatrician has not called me back yet...it's been several hours, so I'm getting kinda desperate to see if anyone has any good suggestions? Are there any over the counter, infant tummy soothers that I can get to help Daisy? It's hurting my heart to know that she is in pain and I so badly want to make her feel better! Any suggestions?

Favorites - 13 Weeks

Daisy fills mine and Joey's hearts with so much joy!! She is an absolute blast and with every passing day she seems to grow a little more and tackle something new. I often think about what a mighty miracle a child is and what is even more special to me is that God chose Daisy to be mine and Joey's first child. Daisy was carved out of time to be here with us and I am so grateful that the Lord brought her into our lives. As I type my little one is waking up from her nap and these days she wakes up in a much better mood and is all smiles when we lean over the rail of her crib and talk quietly to her as she stretches out:). Daddy just went and got his mini-me out of bed and now they are sitting beside me on the couch while she sucks on her fist and makes faces at Daddy. Is there anything better than this? People search the whole world to find happiness, love and excitement...but, this is it. It's all right here:-) Much love. xoxo

Sharing Some Blog Love

Today was one of those days that felt like a Monday but, thankfully it had the happy ending of being a Friday. I had a super crazy work day, Daisy was very unhappy and in pain due to being a clogged up (to put it nicely), and I don't know why but, I was far more tired than usual today. Before I wrapped up my day I stopped by Tricia's blog The Planet Pink and to my surprise and delight I found that she had passed a little blog award my way! It really did make my day. Tricia and I found each others blogs through a mom's blogging network site and I have really enjoyed reading her candid thoughts on parenting and life in general. She is a very inspiring mama.

This sweet award comes with a few requests: #1 -Share 3 things I love about myself...yah it sounds a little awkward to me too but, it's good for the soul to think about such things from time to time:) hehe

1. I love having a relationship with the Lord! He has given me the strength to overcome the obstacles in my life and to live with an attitude of gratitude. I'm so grateful that I know Him!

2. (Not trying to steal Tricia's #2 lol but...) I love my hard working hubby. We had ten years alone together before our baby girl came into the picture and it has definitely been an adjustment. The hubs has gone above and beyond the call of duty and always tries to live by his favorite quote "Happy wife, happy life." He is such a blessing in my life!

3. I love that the older I get the more content I am with who I am. Sure aging has some downsides but, all in all I enjoy caring less about what doesn't matter and caring more about what really does.

Rule #2: Share a current favorite picture - I'll be honest, I post my favorite pictures almost on a daily basis so there wasn't much left to choose from. lol This one was taken yesterday while Daisy sat (with assistance) in the entryway of our house. She was zoned out and so relaxed. I just love the peaceful look on her chubby little face.

\ And lastly to pass this award on to five fellow bloggers: I was most looking forward to this part because it's so fun to share blog love:)!
1. Too Much of a Good Thing
2. The Mom Standard
3. Barely Mommy
4. Ramblings From CaliLand
5. Nitty Gritty

You should definitely visit these mama's blogs and say hello:) Well, that's all for now. I'm super sleepy so off to bed I go. Hopefully the little munchkin will sleep a solid six hours before waking up tonight. We shall see....:) HAPPY THREE DAY, 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND!!

Super Auntie / Nanny

Oh my gosh I just love these two pictures of Daisy with Jess. Her facial expression up top cracks me up!!!
Thank you Erin for the adorable outfit:) It looks so cute on Daisy!

As you all know, our nanny left us hanging high and dry a couple of weeks ago and my hubby's sister Jessica, graciously stepped in and took over as our nanny for the rest of Summer. As you also know, Daisy has stranger anxiety and cried constantly with the previous nanny which was so hard on me, hard on the nanny and hard on Daisy because she is generally a super happy, easy baby and all the crying upset her stomach and messed up her naps everyday. Daisy was definitely fussy the first couple of days with Jessica but, nothing like she was with the other gal and now two weeks later, aside from me, Jess is Daisy's other favorite person. She hardly ever cries with Jess and life has become so much less stressful for all of us. I cannot thank Jess enough for taking the time to learn what Daisy likes and doesn't like and for being so patient and loving with Daisy. It makes me so happy to see that Daisy has warmed up to someone other than me and now I have hope that she will eventually warm to everyone else in time:) lol. I can't help but to give God all the glory for this because I had been praying constantly about the difficulties with our previous nanny and I'm glad that she moved on because God knew that Jess would be perfect for the job! Thank you Jesus for answering our prayers and blessing us with even more than we hoped for! You are so good to us!!
I waited patiently for the LORD;
he turned to me and heard my cry.

2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.

3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the LORD
and put their trust in him.

Psalm 40: 1-3
