He Sustains Me

I'm having one of those sweet "God moments," when the Lord whispers gently to my weary heart and fills me with the utmost peace and joy.

It's quite a change and a challenge to transition from the long term routine of being just husband and wife (which was quite comfortable for us) to being hubby and wife with a little baby. It can be a challenge to budget our finances for daycare fees and baby expenses; a challenge to find time to be a good wife when I am maxed out every day by working and taking care of my precious little one; a challenge to get anything accomplished in my day other than the basics; but more importantly, it is a challenge to make time for the Lord in my new super busy daily routine. It never ceases to amaze me that whenever I DO make time for the Lord, I find my spirits lifted, my strength restored, my heart healed and my focus back where it needs to be, on Christ. HE sustains me!

I love this verse: Isaiah 40:3 "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

When I seek the Lord, He gives me strength to face what feels like an insurmountable day, He gives me the wisdom to handle our finances to the best of my ability, He teaches me how to be a better wife amidst these new circumstances, He shows me how to find balance even in a difficult routine and He gives me joy that surpasses all else!

I have asked so many mamas how they manage to get so much done in a day (most of them have several children compared to my one:) and they all seem to say, "I don't know how I do it, I just know that the Lord gives me the strength for every day!" Amen to that:)

  1. I totaly know how you feel. Most of my friends have 2 or 3 kids and seem like they have it all together, and most of the time I don't even know how I made it through the day. And just when you figure things out the baby moves into a different stage, and you have to start all over again. It's really hard to be a mother, a wife, a homemaker, a best friend, a cook, and everything else and still stay sain. But as you have seen already, being a mother is more then worth it. The blessings and joy a baby brings can't be measured. Your doing an awesome job being a new mommy, just know there will always be ups and downs, and harder days the others.

  2. I am praying for you and will try my hardest to remember to continue to pray for you, Joey, Daisy and Dakota. And keep doing the only thing that we can do...seeking the Lord.

  3. I am so proud of all you do! You work so hard to provide for your whole family and are such an example to me of an intentional Proverbs 31 woman. Thanks for the reminder to continue to seek strength from the Lord!

  4. Great post Casey! It is a lie from the adversary that we just don't have time for the Lord (even if our day is filled with other worthy services and tasks). But in reality, making time for the Lord actually frees up more time for us, probably because unimportant distractions become less desirable. My days are stressful and without patience if I haven't nourished my soul, but joyful, productive, and patient (and many more wonderful things)if I have made time for Him. He is amazing!
