Prepare for Rain

I've mentioned the movie Facing the Giants once before on this blog as it is one of our all time favorite movies. To keep things short and simple: I would say that the last couple of years or so have been a season of financial challenge. From our dog's crazy unexpected surgery a year ago, to having a baby and then Joey's TMJ medical stuff and then just life in between it has been a time for us to "trust in the Lord with all of our hearts and not lean on our own understanding..." The reality is that we are soooooo spoiled regardless of the tough seasons. We have a nice house, cars that run, jobs that are great, good health, a beautiful child, food in our bellies and toys in our garage (so to speak). It's been my hearts desire to choose to praise the Lord no matter how ugly this season gets, or how long it might be because I still have SO much to be thankful for. Praising God in the hard times is not always easy nor is it easy to choose an attitude of gratitude when things aren't peachy but, it's worth it!! God is SO good and so faithful to take care of us! I choose to praise because if I don't the bible says that rocks will cry out in my place and I'm not about to let that happen..move on over rocks! :). Anyways, all this to say that this week the Lord blessed us with an unexpected commission check. I wasn't expecting anything this month so getting anything at all was a tremendous blessing and every little bit helps so much right now. I'm sure you can all relate! It came on the heels of me having a conversation with my mom this morning about how though the times might be tight for us and feel like they have been for so long, God is taking care of us and always has. After you watch this little clip you can ask yourself, "do you only ask for the rain or do you prepare for it and expect it knowing that it will come." Be encouraged today. God knows where you are at, what you need and how you are feeling. Life is full of ups and downs but, regardless of what season you are in I pray that you can still see the Lord guiding you and taking care of you. Things don't magically fall into place and things may not work out exactly as you think necessary but, he loves you and will see you through!! Trust me, I know first hand how draining and trying these seasons are but, I also know from experience that it is worth it to prepare for the Rain. Hang tight. This too shall pass.

  4. Thank you, Casey for posting such an inspiring entry. Funny, this year has been touchy for us but His presence is always obvious to me! That alone is the greatest blessing ever!!!! Knowing that I am never alone and my Creator ALWAYS has my back is what keeps me strong!!! If only everyone could feel like that; wouldn't that be a wonderful thing?

I am sooooo very happy for you that you found that gift in the mail and even more happy that you have the gift of faith to see you through!!!!

  5. So happy and excited for you guys to receive this blessing, you deserve it so much. Doesn't it make it even sweeter when you aren't expecting it? It would have been awesome to find out the money was coming, but to just get it out of nowhere, I know Mike and I have seen God's hand numerous times in ways like that before. I feel like you wrote down how I have been feeling, in much better words than I could ever use :). Love ya hun!! And P.S. we LOVE this movie too, great clip :)!
